The consultation is the first step in starting the Invisalign treatment. During this visit, we examine your teeth and your bite.  Your initial consultation involves: 

Oral exam

An Invisalign consultation starts with an oral exam, much like a typical preventive care exam. We look for any current concerns that might interfere with treatment success, including cavities and gum disease. We may need to treat complications like these before you start orthodontic treatment.  

Digital X-rays

An initial consultation also involves a series of digital X-rays. They show the positions of your teeth and jaw as well as the insides of the bones.  

Intraoral scans

Intraoral scans are taken and uploaded to an advanced computer program for treatment planning. Using these scans, we can predict the optimal way for your teeth to shift with Invisalign aligners.  

Beginning the treatment process

During Invisalign, you use a numbered series of custom plastic aligners designed from your intraoral scans. Each aligner moves your teeth a little closer to their optimal position by placing pressure on certain points of your teeth and jaw.  

We provide instructions on how to use your aligners effectively and complete treatment promptly. Wear your aligners for 20-22 hours daily, removing them only to eat and drink anything other than water. You’ll progress to the next aligner in your series every 1-2 weeks.
